State quizzes
Four free quizzes on the 50 states. Each one lets you choose 10, 25 or all 50 questions, shows a fact after every answer and ends with a list of the ones to review. They work on phones, tablets and computers, with no sign-up.
-
State capitals quizName the capital of each state, from Montgomery to Cheyenne. -
State flags quizSee a flag and pick the state. Watch out for the seals on blue. -
State birds quizMatch each state to its bird. Seven states share one of them. -
State flowers quizThe hardest quiz: more than 40 different flowers.
How the quizzes work
Every question has four choices: the right answer and three wrong ones taken from other states, so no two rounds are the same. After each answer you will see a short fact and a link to the page where you can learn more. At the end you get your score and a list of the questions you missed, each linked to the page with the answer.
Studying first
Each quiz page has a study list with all 50 answers, and the national pages on capitals, flags, birds and flowers explain the patterns that make them easier to remember, from capitals that are not the largest city to the birds shared by half a dozen states.
Questions people ask
- Are the quizzes free?
- Yes. There is no sign-up, and your answers are not stored or sent anywhere.
- Can I use the quizzes in class?
- Yes. Each quiz page also has a study list with all 50 answers, and our printables include blank capitals worksheets.
- Which quiz is the hardest?
- Usually the state flowers, because there are more than 40 different flowers. The flags quiz is hard in a different way, because so many flags put the state seal on a blue field.
